Traveling with Kids

We have lots of tips and tricks for you when traveling with young kids! We recently took a trip and the girls did SO well on this flight! It makes me so excited for the flights we have later this year! We have gathered our favorites to entertain littles on long flights or trips in the car! Keep reading for our tips we use to set us up for success. Do you have things you love to do when traveling with littles? What’s your best advice? Let us know!

Some things that set us up for success:
✈️
Selective flight times: I was really intentional about flight times. It's not always possible but this time it was so I made sure to choose a flight that allowed the girls (& us!) to sleep a full nights sleep the night before.

✈️packing backpacks: They're obsessed with having their own carryon backpacks every trip! I have a big bag that I keep all of their "plane items" in that includes headphones, note books, writing boards, etc that they only ever see on travel day. This makes these items exciting, new, & something they want to explore on the flight. I also always grab a few @target Dollar Spot pens, note books, stickers, & activity pads.

✈️iPads: one of the things that we've been able to do as a family, which I know isn't every families practice, is to keep iPads exclusively for plane rides which makes it something really exciting & special for them. If you already do iPads as a family, try keeping specific shows or games that they only get to watch or play on the plane.

Another tip: Stall screen time! The girls will always ask for the iPads as soon as the flight takes off but I always say no until the last hour or two of the flight. This encourages them to explore their back packs, get creative with what to play, and enjoy their surroundings, BEFORE checking out.

✈️Waterbottles & sippy cups: We always bring their water bottles and fill them up once we get through security but I also sometimes bring them their own closed top cup for the complimentary drink on the plane. They love getting a sparkling water or orange juice but an open cup on a moving plane with toddlers is a no go for me! Bringing closed cups allows them to enjoy a fun drink, too.

✈️Snack Box: Besides having lots of snacks, my number one tip is that I always bring a fresh snack bento box. Travel days are filled with quick food grabs and usually a good amount of packaged snacks. Packing the bento box makes sure we all get some fresh food in, it lasts longer then a packaged snack, & they love it!

What's your best advice?!
